Seven steps to reserve a camping trip with a travel agent, ending at a gorge campground gate
To reserve a camping trip with a travel agent at this office takes seven steps, and you decide at the fourth. The campground you choose is the one you pay, and the one whose terms apply; the office does the asking, the comparing and the paperwork in between.
- Your requestYou send the form, call, or write. A gorge name helps; dates help more. If you are unsure, say what you want from the weekend and the office suggests two gorges.
- The office asks the campgroundsWe contact two or three campgrounds or inns at that gorge for your dates, and ask what the website does not say: which tent is closest to the rim, which cabin has its own bathroom, whether a dog is welcome.
- Options in writingYou receive the options by email, each with the campground's type and town, the figure for your dates with every mandatory charge inside, the taxes it will add, and its own cancellation terms copied out word for word.
- You choose, or you do notNothing is held until you pick one. If none suits, we look again or we stop; there is no charge either way.
- The campground confirmsWe pass your choice to the campground. The campground sends you its confirmation and takes your payment directly, by its own means. This site never sees a card.
- Directions and trail notes ahead of arrivalA week ahead, or as soon as the stay is confirmed for a short-notice weekend, we send directions, check-in hours and the gorge's current trail notes.
- On the road to the gorgeIf something changes on the road, call +1 (585) 663-2741 during office hours or write; outside them, the campground's own number is on your confirmation.
The commission behind a free quote
The campground or inn pays this office a commission on the stay. You pay the campground's own rate; the commission comes out of it, not on top of it. That is why the quote and the planning cost you nothing.
Wednesday evening is the weekend cutoff
The written reply reaches you no later than 5:30 p.m. Eastern the next business day. For a weekend trip, a request that arrives by 6 p.m. on Wednesday gets its options by noon on Thursday; later than that, we still try, but the campgrounds may already be full.
